IT IS MY BIRTHDAY!!! WOOHOO

THE JOURNEY

Today is a very special day, for many reasons other than that September 2nd is my birthday. Today, I officially launch my company, Pearls of Our Lives LLC! Yes. It has been a long road, one which I will explain as the days go forth, so stay tuned please. Today I celebrate the achievement of just one of my dreams, to own and build a Life Skills and Communication company, dedicated to positively enriching lives through Self-development Coaching.

I started my journey to discover my own self many years ago, and that journey took me to the discovery of my natural gifts and skills. I finally acknowledged my gift for listening, not just with my ears, but with my heart, after enough feedback from friends and family I also realized that I had a natural gift for encouraging, inspiring and basically helping people see the bright side of things, the silver lining, letting them know, that although the storms may come, they never last, but if you hang in there, with me beside you, you will not drown nor burn, I will be there, empowering and equipping you to handle the life you have. So, pearlsofourlives.com blog was born, two years ago.

On my blog, I wrote my heart out, and practiced my other gifts, writing poetry, short stories, Food For Thought and basically exploring various expressions of the same message and theme, you can do it, you have what it takes, in your time of sorrow, here is how to look at life and navigate that point, laugh, smile, live, love, and most of all, create meaning in your life.

I thoroughly enjoyed blogging for these two years, that I knew that I wanted to keep on pushing and reaching more people. I decided to study and sharpen my craft. I already had over a decade working in the healthcare industry from the bottom up, as a Nursing Aide, to now as a Registered Nurse. I worked in the Operating Room, saw people at their most vulnerable points as they went through In Vitro to conceive babies, I worked on critical care units, taking care of patients in a coma, cleaned and bathed them, carried them, fed them, and also, I was there one time too many, when a patient lost their battle with life, and I was honored to be the nurse by their side. I love being a nurse, so enriching, and teaching. In order to enhance my Coaching skills, I enrolled in and got my certification as a Practitioner of Neurolinguistic Programming, and also now a student of Strategic Intervention Certification program, pioneered by the world-renowed Life Coach, Tony Robbins and Cloe Madannes. Please check out rmtcenter.com for more details.

I am a very spiritual person, my energy and my peace comes from my deep faith as a Christian, and now armed with a combination of my medical skills and Life Coach Certifications, I decided it was time to launch my own company. Today, on my birthday, I celebrate my journey of self-discovery, which led me to grow through the toughest circumstances and the best experiences, I found myself, found my core, discovered my passion and got my mission. I am here, to assist you in doing your own work of self-discovery, that you too many find and live the best life given you, through the discovery of your true self, your skills, and to help you navigate the storms of life, equipping you to handle your life. I am here to positively enrich your life, and the life of others, and I will lead with my heart, my head and my presence if you will honor me to continue to grow with me, and have me as your Coach.

I have so much lined up for the future, and I will reveal them in the coming weeks and months. For today, thank you for sticking with me, don’t go away, you are a part of this journey and I love each and every one of you. Reach out to me, if you need a hand.

Monday Night Recap

So,after a long day at work, and slowly but
surely those things that make you wonder,
where did my can-do attitude go? The same
traffic slowing your arrival, some nice faces
and some regular characters. Soon enough
the warmth of the weekend turns to familiar
tasks.

This is not an excuse to settle in to the regular
routine and excuse of the mundane & predictable.
Remember the new zeal to go out & conquer 2015,
don’t let other people’s lackluster approach to life be a
stronger voice in your life. Be the force that draws
their inner strength, rather than the one whose
light is turned out by theirs. You have purpose,
remember, be the LIGHT!

SUNDAY REFLECTION

SUNDAY REFLECTION

As we wake up in different parts of the US
it’s not our first thought that other parts of the
world have been hours ahead of us. In that
moment, we have our universe, our immediate
life, whether alone, with family, friends or at work.
For some people, another night on the cold streets

My message today for those still rising, wake up
with a spirit of thankfulness & thoughts of someone
else’s plight in your heart. We all have our worries,
our headaches, pain, & anguish, yet, we can still be
there for someone else, in spite of our own troubles

Make an effort today, to think of someone other than
yourself & how you can be a blessing. You can call,
visit, support emotionally or financially, or pray. In fact,
taking a moment to even think beyond your situation,
might be an accomplishment for someone today.

PEARL #82: THINK ABOUT IT…..

image

When all is said and done, does it really matter how many “likes” we get on Facebook, or how many “shares” we get on our posts, or how many comments our threads attracted? What does it matter, if she didn’t comment when we tagged her, or he didn’t comment after all the times you commented on his posts? Is Facebook and all other forms of social media really the litmus test for real authentic human relationships, or have we just diluted our desire for more, that we settle for likes, and shares, and comments and the occasional “lol” with no expectations of phone calls and I love you?

Think about it, does Facebook chatter and activity really determine your worth? So why are you worried about the lack of it…? Food for thought.

BE STILL AND DREAM

KNOW WHERE YOU ARE IN LIFE

As the year comes to an end, and people wonder where the year went to,

don’t get caught up in the mindless musings, wondering where the time went.

You know exactly where the time went, you know exactly what you were doing,

what you were saying, what you were thinking. You know. We all know.

The year might not have been the most productive for some,

for others, this was the most productive year of their life.

For some people, too many deaths in the family, disappointments,

too many dreams deferred, hearts broken. For some people, they

found true love, got engaged, and finally got pregnant. In some cases,

another failed fertility process.

No matter what side of the spectrum you find yourself today,

don’t let tomorrow set on broken dreams, sad feelings and no vision.

Don’t let the year-end without a game plan. Make a wish, anything,

dare to think that what you desire might actually come true. Dream

DEAR DIARY, IT’S MONDAY AGAIN, DECEMBER 1ST

OH BOY COULD MONDAY BE ANY LESS PAINFUL

I woke up this morning, after a long 4 days off, thinking I should have had one more day off. I obviously had only slept 3 hours the whole night, so I was sleep deprived, and cranky, very cranky. My alarm blasted off at 0430 am, and I thought, who on earth set that alarm! Me of course. I work almost an hour’s drive from home, and ideally I should be at work by 0530am. An unholy hour to be awake at all if you ask me, but not to early to be saving lives. Of course I hardly make it by 5:30, but when I can, it is dark, and I can’t help thinking, most mortals are still asleep. I usually smile as I drive to work though, and during my drive, I meditate and I feel like I have God all to myself. Funny, cause I am usually cranky when that alarm goes off. The busy bee

This morning was even harder. Trying to work a regular job by day, and then apply myself to my passions and my own businesses after hours is a magic trick I marvel at, one which means no sleep as I know it. Puffy eyes here I come, sleep-walker now my name. This is something I am sure a lot of people know as well, people, who believe in a dream, who hold on to the hope that someday, their sweat will be all they need to maintain the standard of living they have become used to over the years, and even more

As I slapped my snooze button over and over, I started my mantra,

“At least I have a job, at least I have a good job, wake up wake up wake up”.

I drove to work, and the only thing that kept me perked up was the vision of the many things I will be accomplishing in the near future; that world where I am a published writer, an actress, a playwright, an employer, a Philanthropist, the world where my book is a movie, Oscar winners, hahaha, yep, all the good things.

Then I arrive at work. Still dark. Time to help save lives. Coffee time, stock up, it’s 6am. New mantra on my lips, “I love my job, I love my job I love my job”

And then when you least expect it, you really love your job, for out of the blue, you get a card from the Assistant Manager with your name on it, it’s not your birthday, you don’t remember anything special happening, you’re not exactly special, but for that moment, or one day, you were special enough to be remembered. I do love my job, and until dreams keep coming true, this made my Monday, December 1st, worthwhile

THANKSGIVING – GIVING THANKS

Today in the United States of America, it is Thanksgiving day. All around, turkey has been cooked in all its forms and variations, cranberry sauce, sweet corn, candied yams, green-beans casserole spread out, some corn bread if you are from the south, sweet potato pies and all kinds of stuff. If you are me, you are wishing for the taste of fried turkey, but hey, Thanksgiving is not a tradition I grew up on, I have adopted it in this adopted nation of mine, and I love the idea of giving thanks.

I am in favor of every opportunity to give thanks, to be thankful. It helps dispel or create a distance between the things we don’t have or wish we could change, and a reason to be grateful for what we do have.

Today I am grateful and thankful for LIFE. My life, is a gift: to me, my family, and my community of colleagues and friends.

I am grateful for God in my life, I believe that the things I have been through would have killed me, my soul, and my spirit, had I not had the knowledge of Him, and the relationship which through faith, I continue to believe and thrive, that He watches over me, and protects me.

I am grateful for the family I have been given. My husband, my children, my parents, and my siblings. These are true riches, and I am not unaware just how truly blessed and privileged I am to know and count each and every one alive. I do not take it for granted, for we are here today and gone tomorrow, so for today I am grateful to still have all alive. I am grateful for my extended family, cousins, and may I say I have the best in-laws in the world. For the year 2014 I know that I could not have auditioned a better pick for the most beautiful souls to adopt me as their child and sibling.

image

I thank God for my friends, my true friends who have dual titles as both blood relatives and non-blood relationships. Some of them friends from long, never forgotten and some I communicate daily. They are my heart friends, they know who they are for they are reading this blog now as they keep up with me no matter where they are or out of touch. Thank you for thinking of me, and praying for me.

As far as life worth living goes, I don’t have the best life, neither do I have the worst life. We have all been through stuff we think we won’t wish on someone else, and we have also been blessed with incredible favor when it comes to other things. Life is the balance. I am grateful for the balance, the middle ground. I can neither boast of an enviable life, neither can I criticize the one I have. It is my perfect balance. This Thanksgiving, I wish you the best, think of your perfect balance, be grateful for the middle ground.

PEARL #82: ACCESS OR NO ACCESS? SET LIMITS

How many people have access to us on a daily basis? We might not think many do, especially when you look at the number of phone calls a day, or how many people you call on a personal level. However, in the new era of social media, changing work environment, and daily routines, there is a huge number of people with access to us.

We can’t control the number of people we get to bypass at work, in the subway, grocery store, school, or bus stop. We sometimes can’t control the friends of friends who view our social profiles, LinkedIn, Facebook, Google+ etc. We can however limit the access people who don’t need to be in our lives have to our personal space. Friends, relatives, acquaintances and neighbors can be and should be evaluated before we grant whatever kind of access to us, as well as how much of us we give.

We all are different and have different values, wants and needs. The one indication for me limiting one’s access to me is the positive or negative effect that person has in my life. Negativity, that is a good place to start. However, if this negativity is also coming from us, we must acknowledge that. Bearing a grudge is never the best answer. We can get closure and resolution in order to be at a quiet distant space

Life is precious, peace is key, even within a storm, peace is possible. The people around us are part of this process. Protect your space and that of the vulnerable ones in our care, those who can’t protect their world, like our kids, minors and seniors

PEARL #81: PLAN YOUR LIFE

DEAR DIARY, IT’S NOVEMBER 1ST 2014

“FAILING TO PREPARE IS PREPARING TO FAIL…

I used to hear this from Dr Dawkins Derrol, senior Pastor and Pediatrician, Birmingham AL. At the time I was just a student in nursing school, working as a Medical Assistant in his Pediatric practice. I wondered, what did that mean? It wasn’t a stretch of the imagination really, it was simple. Dr Dawkins simply meant, you ought to plan what you want to do, and plan how you will execute it.

For me today, I see that so relevant in everything I do. I have seen how things turn out when I plan, and the outcome when I don’t plan. Now, not everything in life can be written down to the last detail, some things are best spontaneous. However, when it comes to important stuff, like the trajectory of your life, a plan better be in place.

image

The first day of November, 2014, makes me realize, I have exactly 2 months till the end of this year. So, I am taking stock of what my life has been so far, is there something I can wrap up? Next, start planning for next year. When the new year starts, I should already have an idea what I want my life to look like. Deciding to plan in January, is preparing to be a day late. I want January to start with me already running.

image  image image

Today I spent time in Barnes & Noble bookstore, looking around for inspiration. The first book I saw walking in is one I have been wanting to read, The Alchemist, wow. Then I looked for the book one of my Coaches and Mentors said I should get, The Ten Day MBA, my eyes fell on Joel Osteen’s book, but I couldn’t possibly get all these in one day. The adrenaline though started to fill my blood, I wanted to remain in the bookstore.

I got a couple of journals, my The Alchemist, pens and paper. Tonight, I will plan the rest of my year and the beginning of a new one.

image                  image

What about you? What are you planning for next week, next month, next year? Need paper, pen? Then get it, start thinking, all the best to you and me, may our dreams come true.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

ARE YOU A MISTAKE?

The intricacies of the workings of the human body are a marvel to behold.

In my little space in my thoughts, I see in my mind’s eye all the beauty

and complexity of the world my eyes captured all day. It dawns on me, these

are not mistakes, these are carefully created organisms, perfect human beings

in their imperfection. It is clear to me, that God does not make mistakes. So while

we wallow in doubt, self-pity, fear and terror, shouldn’t we wonder, if the Creator

makes everything on purpose, and no one is a mistake, why will He start with me?

This human being who was made out of intention will intentionally desire and create

the world meant for them. Today
