See the Change in Others Too

So often we believe in our ability to change, transform, & renew who we are; we move on from behavior that doesn’t serve us well into fruitful choices. Yet, we might not be as open or kind enough to accept or see these changes in others. We hold folks hostage to their past & see only what justifies our impression of them. No one holds the patent on being transformed, so make room for others to be different in your eyes, show love in action.

Weather Your Storms

What habits have you cultivated when it comes to your attitude about storms in your life? Are you set immediately in a panic, do you fret and worry, and begin to speak of all the dreadful “what if” possibilities that could arise from the storm, rather than look for the positive angle? Maybe it is time to start growing that inner muscle that says, no matter what, I have what it takes to weather the storms in my life, for they will come, and go, but I will be the factor that decides if I go with the storms or not.  Mah Mekolle

YOU ARE YOUR THOUGHTS

YOU ARE YOUR THOUGHTS

Our thoughts are made up of a lot of things, some of which are intrinsically generated by our desires and deliberate action of thinking in a certain direction. However, these are not the only factors that make up the noise and activity in our head, our mind, and our heart. A huge percentage of our thoughts comes from input we get externally, all our portals and windows into our soul, our mind: the things we see, hear, feel, smell, taste, experience, encounter, and our instinct. We consume an enormous amount of information, data that is random and some, not so random. In essence, the totality of what we think is a salad bowl of more that what we desire to think about, is based largely on input. From that point of view, the true us, is really not reflected in the sampling of our mind. Yet, we are, our thoughts, and I will explain further.

You see, while we may not be the author of every thought in our mind, we have the authority to control how much external data we let in our heads, and how much of that information we allow to dwell and take residence in our head. We have the capacity to program our brains to work for us, to predispose us to a mindset of positive thinking, thus positive outcomes as much as possible, or we can allow the brain to be at the mercy of every passing data and for that data to dwell and morph into whatever interpretation or effect it wants. What we allow to take root in our mind becomes our belief system or has the power to influence what we put out through the same portals: what we say, how we act and react, and the energy we put out. What comes in, goes out.

My short video is intended to be a helpful tool in dealing with one of the ways we can set ourselves up for control of the data that comes in our head and how to react to it. START YOUR DAY RIGHT. A simple step, such as paying attention to your thoughts in the first 20-30 minutes of your day, is powerful in taking ownership of what disposition you want your brain to be in. You can decide for yourself, that although you cannot control the words and actions of others, you will control how your mind receives those experiences, and you will set the tone you want for your day. Enjoy the video, ask me questions and join to further the discussion. Think about these tips as you learn to start your day right:

– Wake up expectant every morning, determined to own your day

– Wake up grateful, there’s always something to be thankful for, like the breath of life

– Dedicate a few minutes of your 24 hours to map out what you desire for your life that day

– You’re your thoughts, for what you think, you speak & create. De-clutter your thoughts, you’re worth more than junk

LASER FOCUS TOWARDS DESTINY

I love new beginnings, they are amazing to the mind and heart. The wonderful thing about new beginnings is you can create your own whenever you like, you don’t have to wait for someone else to start it or give you permission. You don’t have to wait to conform to man-made new starts like new year. You decide when you need to start over, whether it is Monday, Thursday, March or August. So, I challenge you today, are you yet on that path to realizing your utmost purpose on this earth, have you found the key to why you are here, how confident are you, that you are where you need to be, doing what you were called to do and there is nothing more you want?

My Challenge: Today, look in the mirror and ask the image starring back, if the decisions you are currently making, honor the path in that journey to revealing the greatness within you. If something doesn’t seem right, do something about it. Remove the obstacles, be laser focused on creating the best life for yourself. It won’t take a day, but it won’t happen either if you don’t live with intention.

You are the light of the world, so shine bright!

THE WILL TO CHANGE OUR DESTINY

Who knows what the future holds? You, me? nobody knows. You do know one thing though, you know exactly where you are today, where your feet are standing, with whom and with what. You also know where you were yesterday, the past. I suggest, whether the past was sweet or bitter, do not dwell and make yesterday your resting spot. Reflect on today, ask yourself if this is where you want to continue to be, then make choices to maintain it. If today is not a reflection of your desired destination, the more reason to strap on some tools and head for the improvement of your future, whether financially, spiritually, emotionally, socially, politically or in any way that means something to you. Do not just stare and not do anything.

THE DOCTRINE OF WEALTH- THE DESTINATION, THE ARRIVAL?

DP12

PEARLS ON WEALTH

Money, Money, MONEY, MONEY! Yes, it is all about the MONEY, do you find yourself thinking this way?  I HAVE ARRIVED; I AM HERE; I AM HAPPY; HAVE MADE IT, or so we are led to believe.  Our culture is built on individual’s status of wealth, and this symbolism is everywhere.  When did money become such a destination?   When did we forgot our initial purpose of providing for our basic needs and start focusing on the status of ourselves compared to those around us?

There are no rules of right or wrong in how we approach life, everything is subjective, there are ideal propositions out there and outlooks that seem to produce more ideal results.  Abraham Maslow’s phenomenal study on human motivation and personality is still one of the most popular theories in psychology and sociology today, where his hierarchy of human needs: Physiological, safety, love & belonging, esteem and self-actualization are exposed. When we are able to provide for the most basic, then we move on successfully to the next and are able to accomplish the next. Failure to succeed or achieve one level stunts growth in the next, says our competitive society.

In our world, we have the ideal process confused; When did money become so important? Are we starting to impose our mixed up views as ideal fact to the world?  For example. FACT: Unless you have diamonds and a flashy lifestyle, you haven’t arrived? Or, Fact, unless you LOOK like you have made it, you haven’t made it?

I have made it and I have arrived, but WHERE I wonder? What is this destination that even when we are happily in love, have a place to live, at least a meal or two a day, people who love our company….somehow , we still live like we are not yet THERE? Where is this PLACE that seems to rob our world today of the sense of accomplishment, unless there is FLASH at the end?  Thinking in terms of Maslow’s basic needs is where we refocus our energy and find there is no need to compare our self to others, but it is providing to our self the basic needs and finding joy in the love, happiness, and family in each step we take.

So, WHAT and WHERE is your DESTINATION? When you think of your personal “I have arrived…” be honest, what are you thinking of? When we are sitting on a goldmine, in terms of love, family, shelter, peace, and safety, with these basic needs met, we then can realize that I have Arrived, I am Here, I am Happy, and I have Made it.  Our comparison to others is irrelevant and it is within us we find our path to enrichment.

Monday Night Recap

So,after a long day at work, and slowly but
surely those things that make you wonder,
where did my can-do attitude go? The same
traffic slowing your arrival, some nice faces
and some regular characters. Soon enough
the warmth of the weekend turns to familiar
tasks.

This is not an excuse to settle in to the regular
routine and excuse of the mundane & predictable.
Remember the new zeal to go out & conquer 2015,
don’t let other people’s lackluster approach to life be a
stronger voice in your life. Be the force that draws
their inner strength, rather than the one whose
light is turned out by theirs. You have purpose,
remember, be the LIGHT!
