See the Change in Others Too

So often we believe in our ability to change, transform and renew who we are; we move on from behavior that doesn’t serve us well into fruitful choices. Yet, we might not be as open or kind enough to accept or see these changes in others. We hold folks hostage to their past and see only what justifies our impression of them. No one holds the patent on being transformed, so make room for others to be different in your eyes, show love in action.

THE WARMTH OF A SMILE

Have you thought about what it will mean to someone if you offered them the

gift of your genuine smile? Well, try it. You may even be needing one, and

you wonder, where will you find the heart to muster up a warm smile,

when your heart could possibly be breaking, hurt, sad, disappointed.

Yet, when we dig deep and offer someone else something that

means the world to them, we honor our own self. SMILE! You

just might find, that in meeting their need, you meet yours 🙂

LIVING FREE

Today’s pearl is all about living free. Do you understand what living free is,

what is it to you? It will be unwise to try to define what living free is because

it is rather subjective, what might be considered an expression of freedom

to one person, could be totally different to another. We all live and all

come from different backgrounds, whether cultural, religious or sociopolitical.

So, I will not attempt to impose a definition for a group so broad, I will instead

provoke you to think for yourself, and examine your space, your environment,

both mental and physical. Within those parameters, what is an attainable

freedom available to you? How can you harness it, make use of it,

and hang on to it in order to break free from whatever bondage you

might find yourself in. Could it be, you need to start by breaking free from

YOU. Find out what prison you have unwittingly put yourself into, then start

chipping away at your own barricade, slowly but surely, you will be free!

Change How You Think

Enrich your mind by switching your perspective.

It starts with a deliberate intention to want a

different kind of result. Out with old and

unproductive habits, a desire for something

more, then action. First, your thinking,

change how you think, it begins there

PEARL #82: ACCESS OR NO ACCESS? SET LIMITS

How many people have access to us on a daily basis? We might not think many do, especially when you look at the number of phone calls a day, or how many people you call on a personal level. However, in the new era of social media, changing work environment, and daily routines, there is a huge number of people with access to us.

We can’t control the number of people we get to bypass at work, in the subway, grocery store, school, or bus stop. We sometimes can’t control the friends of friends who view our social profiles, LinkedIn, Facebook, Google+ etc. We can however limit the access people who don’t need to be in our lives have to our personal space. Friends, relatives, acquaintances and neighbors can be and should be evaluated before we grant whatever kind of access to us, as well as how much of us we give.

We all are different and have different values, wants and needs. The one indication for me limiting one’s access to me is the positive or negative effect that person has in my life. Negativity, that is a good place to start. However, if this negativity is also coming from us, we must acknowledge that. Bearing a grudge is never the best answer. We can get closure and resolution in order to be at a quiet distant space

Life is precious, peace is key, even within a storm, peace is possible. The people around us are part of this process. Protect your space and that of the vulnerable ones in our care, those who can’t protect their world, like our kids, minors and seniors

MY DAILY PRAYER

Dear God you know it’s me again. I thank You for waking me up this morning, you are always so faithful. As I acknowledge your presence today, I ask that you forgive me my sins as I forgive those who sinned against me.

You have created a beautiful earth and in it you put all kinds of life form. You centered me specifically in the space I’m in, for no one else can occupy my unique space.

So Father I acknowledge my unique spot and I praise you, I love you for making me so amazingly different.

Dear Holy Spirit, comfort the brokenhearted, the sick, the lonely, the abused, and the hopeless. Draw all of us to your awesome presence wherein there is love, hope, and peace

Accept my worship and my praise in Jesus’ mighty name, amen.

PEARL # 76: AM I WORTHY

YES YES YES!

Our worth lies not in the things we accumulate that trim and dress us up on the outside. It is not in the bling, the glitz and the glamour. It is not in the places we dine whether four stars or five stars, neither is it in the people we are seen associating with. Our measure of worth just is, because we exist, we are human, and we occupy space in the earth. Nobody can determine our worth but us, therefore nobody can take it away unless we let them. You’re worthy of love, peace, joy, forgiveness, kindness and life!
