See the Change in Others Too

So often we believe in our ability to change, transform and renew who we are; we move on from behavior that doesn’t serve us well into fruitful choices. Yet, we might not be as open or kind enough to accept or see these changes in others. We hold folks hostage to their past and see only what justifies our impression of them. No one holds the patent on being transformed, so make room for others to be different in your eyes, show love in action.

THE POWER TO SEE OUR VISION COME TO LIGHT

What lies within us is far more powerful that the external attraction of what our eyes perceive. Sometimes we are blinded by the glitz, the bling, and glamor of what we think are the fruits of true labor in others, and yes, that well could be the fruits of true labor, and sometimes, the labor is not one you want to be a part of either. You see, judging a process simply by the appearance of fruit can be very detrimental, unless one is privy to the efforts taken to get there. On the other hand, fruits don’t lie, consistent fruit tells a tale of consistent effort.

In the end, we can only be accountable for our own efforts and our own fruit. While it is important to use the steps walked by others as an encouraging beacon to keep on working hard, we can’t become obsessed with their journey to the point of neglecting our own. This unfortunately has given rise to a celebrity and paparazzi-obsessed world nowadays, where we wake up trying to break the news of who wore what and married whom, rather than reaching inside our dreams to break the news of what steps we will take that day to accomplish our own dreams.

Be steadfast to your pace, your goals, your dreams and your visions, which have been custom-made for you. Admire and applaud the achievements of others with genuine admiration and a desire to learn from their positive steps. However, do not get lost in a world outside of your own, that might lead you to feel depressed that you are not progressing, lead to needless jealousy and envy, or self-deprecating utterances unto yourself. Move forward with you plans, believe in your visions and your ability to achieve, then take purposeful steps each day. Positively enrich your life and others. – MAH MEKOLLE

HONOR YOUR ROLE TO YOURSELF

Are you feeling overwhelmed by life and all the roles you have to play? Oh my if you are like most people, you have to play the role of a mother, father, sibling, caretaker, guardian, aunt, Step-parent, colleague, Manager, grandchild, and many many other roles. These obligations can sometimes make you feel like you are going to drown, and then you forget the most important person, your role to yourself.

Your first role is to yourself. Take a moment to realize and know that you are doing your best with the tools that you have on hand right now. Your best might not be solving all your problems and meeting the outcomes you desire, but it is your best effort and there is room for improvement, always. As you watch my video, I want you to imagine you are looking in the mirror, or if you have one available, go and look into it. Who do you see looking back? You. You are your first responsibility. Your duty and role to be at your best, expect your best, and give yourself the best chance comes first. You can not effectively and consistently be so much for other people, forgetting to replenish the giver of time, emotions, finances, and much more, if you do not take time out to take care of you.

Know when you need to step back, whether mentally, emotionally, spiritually or other, in order to recharge, regroup, feed your spirit, your heart and mind. Take that time unapologetically but not recklessly, do it for your sanity, you deserve it, you have earned it if you truly have been trying your best. Remember that we are all on a journey towards the end, do not rush yourself into a mental breakdown just because you got too busy, felt too important in the lives of those you love and take care of, that you didn’t pause to honor your role to yourself. If you breakdown, the people you are doing all this for, will end up lacking what you are killing yourself trying to provide. So, if you want to still be there, doing these things, honor yourself, recharge, be your number one champion.

Let me read and hear from you, practice this and tell me what your experience was. Have you learned to take time out for yourself, is it hard, and what are your obstacles?

THE WARMTH OF A SMILE

Have you thought about what it will mean to someone if you offered them the

gift of your genuine smile? Well, try it. You may even be needing one, and

you wonder, where will you find the heart to muster up a warm smile,

when your heart could possibly be breaking, hurt, sad, disappointed.

Yet, when we dig deep and offer someone else something that

means the world to them, we honor our own self. SMILE! You

just might find, that in meeting their need, you meet yours 🙂

DRIVE AND PERSISTENCE

A few key words to guide your day. Focus, drive, persistence, repeat

FOCUS: maintaining attention on a particular thing. When we center our attention on what we really want, we do not let other things get in the way of achieving that goal. We may get delayed along the way, but if you really want something, you have to focus. If you want it bad enough, then you can’t take your eyes or mind off achieving that goal

DRIVE: Drive gives the boost you need to accomplish the task you are focusing on. It’s not enough to want something, you have to get the action into it. A car is only as good as the distance you can drive it. Do you have the drive to take you the distance, or is your dream just a parked car?

PERSISTENCE: Persistence comes in when you start to encounter opposition of any kind to achieving your goal. Life happens, but if we persist, we redirect always to our main focus

REPEAT: Repetition brings excellence and mastery. If you want to be a writer, you must repeat the act of writing over and over. If you want to speak, speak often. You want to blog well, blog often. Simple, repeat, repeat

FOCUS & PERSISTENCE

I hope these few key words add something to your day and give you the extra boost you need to follow and persist in your empire-building

SUNDAY REFLECTION

SUNDAY REFLECTION

As we wake up in different parts of the US
it’s not our first thought that other parts of the
world have been hours ahead of us. In that
moment, we have our universe, our immediate
life, whether alone, with family, friends or at work.
For some people, another night on the cold streets

My message today for those still rising, wake up
with a spirit of thankfulness & thoughts of someone
else’s plight in your heart. We all have our worries,
our headaches, pain, & anguish, yet, we can still be
there for someone else, in spite of our own troubles

Make an effort today, to think of someone other than
yourself & how you can be a blessing. You can call,
visit, support emotionally or financially, or pray. In fact,
taking a moment to even think beyond your situation,
might be an accomplishment for someone today.

DEAR DIARY, IT’S MONDAY AGAIN, DECEMBER 1ST

OH BOY COULD MONDAY BE ANY LESS PAINFUL

I woke up this morning, after a long 4 days off, thinking I should have had one more day off. I obviously had only slept 3 hours the whole night, so I was sleep deprived, and cranky, very cranky. My alarm blasted off at 0430 am, and I thought, who on earth set that alarm! Me of course. I work almost an hour’s drive from home, and ideally I should be at work by 0530am. An unholy hour to be awake at all if you ask me, but not to early to be saving lives. Of course I hardly make it by 5:30, but when I can, it is dark, and I can’t help thinking, most mortals are still asleep. I usually smile as I drive to work though, and during my drive, I meditate and I feel like I have God all to myself. Funny, cause I am usually cranky when that alarm goes off. The busy bee

This morning was even harder. Trying to work a regular job by day, and then apply myself to my passions and my own businesses after hours is a magic trick I marvel at, one which means no sleep as I know it. Puffy eyes here I come, sleep-walker now my name. This is something I am sure a lot of people know as well, people, who believe in a dream, who hold on to the hope that someday, their sweat will be all they need to maintain the standard of living they have become used to over the years, and even more

As I slapped my snooze button over and over, I started my mantra,

“At least I have a job, at least I have a good job, wake up wake up wake up”.

I drove to work, and the only thing that kept me perked up was the vision of the many things I will be accomplishing in the near future; that world where I am a published writer, an actress, a playwright, an employer, a Philanthropist, the world where my book is a movie, Oscar winners, hahaha, yep, all the good things.

Then I arrive at work. Still dark. Time to help save lives. Coffee time, stock up, it’s 6am. New mantra on my lips, “I love my job, I love my job I love my job”

And then when you least expect it, you really love your job, for out of the blue, you get a card from the Assistant Manager with your name on it, it’s not your birthday, you don’t remember anything special happening, you’re not exactly special, but for that moment, or one day, you were special enough to be remembered. I do love my job, and until dreams keep coming true, this made my Monday, December 1st, worthwhile

How often do you think about why you exist? Too complicated a thought or too simplistic a view? Truth is, whether we think about it consciously or unconsciously, we are in one way or another striving to make sense of our existence. It is hard to experience total peace until we feel a sense of oneness and purpose, familiarity with our core. For everyone, that peace and sense of center is different, no two are the same.

Find your core, the inner essence from which our greatest strength comes, and then use it to fuel this great journey called life.
